Dr. J. Benjamin Tribble

Dr. Ben Tribble was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina
while his father, Dr. David Tribble, was training in surgery.
He grew up in Columbia, South Carolina, attended public schools,
and graduated from Columbia High School in 1975. He then pursued
a degree in Chemical Engineering from Clemson University and
graduated in 1979 with Highest Honors.
Sensing that his true calling was in medicine, he attended
Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee
and received his M.D. in 1983. From Vanderbilt he sought and received
a position in the surgical training program at Wake Forest University
Medical Center/Bowman Gray School of Medicine. His five year surgical
residency was completed in 1988.
In July 1988 Dr. Tribble joined Surgical Associates. He is
past Chief of Surgery at Palmetto Baptist Medical Center.
Dr. Tribble is board certified by the American Board of
Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
His areas of special interest are laparoscopic surgery
(including reflux and obesity surgery) and vascular surgery.
Dr. Tribble along with Dr. Dalton Prickett has currently teamed
up with Palmetto Health Baptist Medical Center Weight Loss Management
Center in the treatment and management of morbid obesity. These
two surgeons were the first in the Midlands to perform the weight-loss
procedure laparoscopically.
