History
Surgical Associates of South Carolina, P.A. was
formed in 1996 when two large practices, South Carolina Surgical
Associates and Columbia Surgical Associates, merged. South Carolina
Surgical Associates had been formed in 1963 and Columbia Surgical
Associates was formed in 1959 by Dr. Daniel W. Davis.
South Carolina Surgical brought in to the group Dr. Dail W. Longaker,
Dr. David E. Tribble, Dr. Robert H. Bunch (whose father George
co-founded the practice), Dr. J Benjamin Tribble, and Dr. Dalton S.
Prickett. Columbia Surgical Associates brought eight physicians into
the group including Dr. Daniel W. Davis, Dr. C. Alden Sweatman. Jr.,
Dr. Neal R. Reynolds, Dr. Sidney E. Morrison, III, Dr. Chad A.
Rubin, and three other doctors who have since formed their own
practice in Lexington County. Dr. Jose Mena joined Surgical
Associates of South Carolina in July of 1997. Dr. Davis retired from
the practice in August of 1996.
Surgical Associates enjoys an outstanding reputation throughout the
state for its patient care and innovation. Our surgeons have varied
interests such as breast cancer, colon and rectal surgery, vascular
surgery and laparoscopic thoracic surgery and pride themselves on
keeping abreast of the most recent developments in all areas of
their field.
We are located in Downtown Columbia which is convenient to the four
major hospitals, Palmetto Richland Hospital, Palmetto Baptist
Medical Center, and Columbia Providence Hospital and the new
Providence Hospital Northeast.
Our offices are open Monday through Friday
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
